Accessibility Statement

Version 2026-11-03-b · Effective 2026-11-03

Our commitment

We want everyone to be able to use Commstate: the businesses that run on it and the shoppers who buy from them. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard the European Accessibility Act (through EN 301 549), the US ADA and India's Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act point to.

What this statement covers

  • The Commstate web app, at commstate.app and app.commstate.app.
  • The shop fronts businesses publish with Commstate's storefront themes, on our addresses or their own.
  • The Commstate mobile app for Android.
  • Our documentation site and these legal pages.

A business can change its shop's colours, pictures and text. When it does, it is responsible for that content being accessible, such as describing its product pictures and keeping enough contrast between text and background.

How accessible it is today

Commstate is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA: some parts do not fully meet the standard yet. The app is built on accessible components that support keyboard use and screen readers.

We reviewed the shop fronts and the chat window against WCAG 2.1 AA in November 2026.

Fixed on 3 November 2026:

  • The cart, the size guide and the picture viewer now behave as dialogs. Focus moves into them, stays there, and goes back when they close. Escape closes them.
  • Every shop page starts with a "Skip to content" link.
  • You can see where the keyboard is on carousels.
  • Checkout errors are read out as they appear, and required fields say they are required.
  • Sale prices are read as "now" and "was".
  • Order progress says which step the order is at.
  • The price filters, star ratings, countdowns and logo links have names.
  • Text contrast was raised to at least 4.5:1 in the Aero and Mono themes, on the default theme's sale badge, and in the chat window.
  • New chat messages are read out, and Escape closes the chat.

Also fixed later on 3 November 2026:

  • The slideshow, scrolling banners, logo rows and background videos have a pause button. A slideshow also stops once you use its arrows or dots.
  • The page's language is the shop's own.
  • Escape closes menus that open on hover.

Still to fix:

  • Some pictures a business uploads have no description, because none was given. We remind the business to add one.
  • Charts on the business's own dashboards have no text alternative yet.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on Commstate, or on a shop built with it, is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us at accessibility@commstate.app. Say which page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the device and assistive technology you use (for example, a screen reader).

We reply within 5 working days. If the problem is on a shop, we pass it to that business and help it fix what is in our product. If you need the content in another form now, we will help you get it.

If you are not happy with our answer you can complain to us under our Complaints and Grievance Officer page. You can also contact the authority that enforces accessibility law where you live.

How we check

Our review uses automated checks, keyboard-only use of every screen, and screen readers (VoiceOver and TalkBack). We review this statement at least once a year and whenever something important changes.

This statement was prepared on 2 November 2026 and updated on 3 November 2026.
