Deleting Your Data

Version 2026-10 · Effective {{EFFECTIVE_DATE}} · An earlier version. Read the current one.

1. In short

You can ask us to delete the personal data Commstate holds about you, wherever you are. How depends on who you are: someone who uses Commstate to run a business, or a customer of one of those businesses. This page is the practical part of section 9 of our Privacy Policy, which sets out what we keep and for how long.

2. If you use Commstate for a business

Your own user account. Write to {{PRIVACY_EMAIL}} from the email address on the account and ask for it to be deleted. If you are the only owner of a business, say whether the business should be deleted too (below); otherwise we ask you to hand ownership to someone else first.

A whole business and all its data. An owner of the business writes to {{PRIVACY_EMAIL}}. We confirm the request with the owner, then delete the business's account and everything in it: its customers, orders, products, conversations, messages and settings.

We confirm who is asking before we delete anything, and complete the deletion within {{DELETION_DAYS}} days. We keep only what the law requires us to keep, such as tax and billing records for {{TAX_RECORD_YEARS}} years. Deleted data leaves our backups within about 14 days as they are replaced. We tell you by email when it is done.

3. If you connected Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp

When a business connects its WhatsApp Business account, Instagram account or Facebook Page to Commstate, Meta gives Commstate access to that account so it can send and receive messages for the business. Commstate keeps the account's identifiers, the access Meta granted, and the messages, templates and contacts that pass through it.

  • Disconnect it yourself. In Commstate, open Integrations, choose the connected account (for example WhatsApp), and click Disconnect. Commstate deletes the stored access and the account link at once and stops receiving its messages.
  • Remove Commstate from your Meta account. In Meta Business Settings, under Integrations, Connected apps, or on Facebook under Settings, Business integrations, remove Commstate. Meta then withdraws Commstate's access.
  • Delete the messages and contacts too. Conversations and contacts belong to the business's records in Commstate. A business can delete them in Commstate, or ask us to with the whole business (section 2).

4. If you are a customer of a business on Commstate

The shops and businesses on Commstate decide what they keep about their customers, and we hold that data for them. To have your data deleted, ask the business you dealt with first: it can delete your records itself. If it does not answer, or you cannot reach it, write to {{PRIVACY_EMAIL}} with the business's name and the phone number or email address it knows you by, and we will pass your request on and make sure it is handled.
