Acceptable Use Policy
Version 2026-10 · Effective {{EFFECTIVE_DATE}}
1. Why this exists
Commstate is shared by many businesses, and it sends messages and makes calls in their name to real people. This policy keeps it safe and lawful for all of them. It is part of the Terms of Service.
2. What you may not sell or offer
Through your shop, catalogue or messages, you may not offer:
- anything illegal where you are or where you sell, including drugs and controlled substances, weapons and ammunition, counterfeit or stolen goods, and wildlife products;
- prescription medicines without the licences the law requires, or products with false health claims;
- gambling, betting or lottery services, except where licensed and allowed;
- sexual content involving minors, in any form;
- pyramid or multi-level schemes, or "get rich" offers;
- anything that infringes someone else's trademark, copyright or other rights.
3. Messages and calls
- Send marketing messages and make marketing calls only to people who agreed to hear from you, and stop when they ask. Respect "do not call" registers and choices, and the rules where the people you contact are, such as the EU and UK e-privacy rules, the US TCPA and CAN-SPAM Act, and India's TRAI rules on registered sender IDs, templates and calling hours.
- Use WhatsApp within Meta's Business and Commerce policies and approved templates.
- Tell people when a call is recorded. Do not switch off recording announcements where the law requires them.
- Do not pretend to be someone else, send misleading messages, or collect sign-in details or payment details through messages (phishing).
- Do not use bought or scraped contact lists.
4. Data
- Collect and use customers' personal data only as your own privacy policy says and the data protection law that applies to you (such as the GDPR or India's DPDP Act) allows.
- Do not upload anyone's government ID, health data or financial details unless you need them for a lawful reason and have a basis for it.
- Do not use Commstate to build profiles of people for purposes they would not expect, or to track people without their knowledge.
5. The system
You may not:
- try to get into another business's data, or into parts of Commstate your role does not allow;
- probe, scan or test Commstate's security without our written permission (if you find a weakness, tell us at {{SECURITY_EMAIL}});
- overload Commstate, get around its usage limits, or use automated tools against it beyond its published APIs and their limits;
- copy, resell or rebrand Commstate except under a reseller agreement with us;
- upload malware, or use Commstate to host or spread it.
6. AI features
Do not use the AI features to produce content that is illegal, harmful, deceptive, or that infringes others' rights, or to make decisions with legal or similarly serious effects on people without a person reviewing them.
7. What happens if this is broken
We may remove content, pause a feature (such as sending), or suspend an account that breaks this policy. Where we can, we tell you first and give you a chance to fix it; where there is a risk of harm, we act first and tell you after. Serious or repeated breaches can end the agreement. We report illegal activity to the authorities when the law requires it.
8. Reporting misuse
If you see Commstate being misused, for example a shop selling something on the list above or messages you did not agree to, tell us at {{ABUSE_EMAIL}} or the Grievance Officer.
